Classic League Rules
Note that this ruleset is incomplete and should be used as a guide only. Please send an email to the commissioner for clarification.
- Trading:
- Trading is allowed between all teams from the beginning of the season until 80% of the season is completed.
- Team owners may trade players, cash, and/or draft choices.
- Teams that agree upon a trade each send an email to the commissioner to confirm the deal
- Unassigned Players
- Unassigned players are those players that are not assigned to a team. These players can be signed at any time.
- Unassigned players are chosen from the unassigned pool and offered a salary. Once a player has been chosen, the player requires a three days to clear waivers.
- Another team may offer any player in the unassigned pool a GREATER salary within the three days.
- All players must be selected prior to the final game of the season. All players that have been selected prior to the final game will be assigned to the current bidding team at the time of execution of the final games.
- Unassigned players may not be bid on during the playoffs.
- Players that remain unassigned at the end of the entry draft will be placed in the entry draft for the following season. Their age will be set to 15 yrs old. and their leadership and experience will be set to the player default at that age
- Each team has only $500,000 to spend on unassigned players each season
- Finances:
- Each team will rely on gate revenue for finance.
- Each team's projected revenue must always be positive
- If a team's projected revenue becomes negative, they have one week to adjust their revenue flow
- Finance Penalties: Teams will lose each of their top paid players to the free-agency list at the price they are currently listed and will incur a 25% salary fee until the projected revenue becomes positive. Teams bidding on the player will start at the current salary price (note this rule is in effect for the Winter 2003 season)
- Player Salaries and resigning players
- Players may be resigned using the online tool at any time.
- Upon season completion, each team will be able to sign their players for the upcoming season. Players that are not signed by prior to the first game of the next season will be available in free-agency
- Player salary offers are restricted to the guidelines noted in the Finances rules
- Free Agency:
- Free Agents are those players that remain unsigned to their current team once a season begins
- A free agent remains with their current team, playing for the previous season's contract until resigned by the current team, or signed by some other team
- Once a free agent has been given an offer, the player's current team may resign the player at the current market price ONLY if the free agent offer has not increased by more than the current market value
- Once an offer has been made for a free agent, there will be 10 days in which teams can increase the offer. All offers must increase the current offer by 10% or more
- All players must be selected prior to the final game of the season. All players that have been selected prior to the final game will be assigned to the current bidding team at the time of execution of the final games.
- Free agents may not be bid on during the playoffs
- Releasing player:
- A team that wishes to release a player must pay a fee of the value of the remaining contract of the player.
- For example, if a player has a 1 year contract of $100,000, the team would have to pay $100,000 to release the player. If the player has a 5 year contract of $100,000, the team would have to pay $500,000 to release the player.
- Players that have 1 year remaining at the end of a season, but prior to the start of the next season can be released at no cost as the salary has been paid off.
